Nova Scotia Department of Community Services (DCS):
Early Childhood Development Services – Stakeholder Consultation
to Inform the Development of Nova Scotia’s Child Care Plan
In the summer and autumn of 2005, we facilitated 20 consultation sessions
across Nova Scotia with child care stakeholders (parents; community
members; child care sector workers; and policy/decision makers) to systematically
gather input from stakeholders to inform the development of Nova Scotia’s
Child Care Plan, which was being formulated as a result of the Canada-Nova
Scotia Agreement on Early Learning and Childcare. Using questions developed
by DCS, we collected the responses, analyzed the information, and prepared
a final report with emergent themes for DCS to consider in the development
of the Nova Scotia Child Care Plan.
