Sharing Strengths Society
– Addressing Youth Violence
In 2002, on behalf of Sharing Strengths, we organized a regional consultation
to assist decision-makers in nine government departments in the development
of an intersectoral, coordinated intervention strategy for addressing
youth violence in western Nova Scotia. The consultation process included
surveys, key informant interviews, and an in-person consultation for stakeholders
from across the region. The results of this consultation have been used
to develop pilot projects for preventing youth violence in western Nova
Scotia communities.
We developed the evaluation framework for the strategy and its incorporated
programs, developed a profile of indicators to monitor the resulting
strategy, and wrote descriptions of the individual programs that would
be incorporated into the strategy. However, our primary role in this
project was the development of the strategy rather than the evaluation
framework (the evaluation framework was a value-added component to the
contract).
